It was later in 1991 that the park was declared a UNESCO world heritage site so as to protect, preserve and conserve the different unique species at the park.

Amboseli National Park is located 226 miles from Nairobi city. Its located 450 KM from Mombasa, and can be accessed through the Kimana Gate or Iremito Gate on the Emali Loitoktok road. The park is located 140km from Nairobi via Namanga, Meshenani Gate.

Amboseli National Park is located south of Nairobi and west of Mombasa, easily accessed by both road and air. It’s 30 minutes flight from Nairobi and 5 hour’s drive from Nairobi. You can have a short flight from Nairobi to Amboseli with a scenic tour of Mt. Kilimanjaro on charter flights.
