Nairobi National Park Tourist Guide

Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s premier safari destinations, offers exclusive wildlife sightings and safari experiences. Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, the Amboseli National Parks is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close.

Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulfur springs, the savannah, and woodlands.  They can also visit the local Maasai community who live around the park and experience their authentic culture.

Amboseli National Park is 390.26 sq. Km in size, hosting different wildlife species and other flora and fauna. The park was established in 1974 as a national park. It has a great history as one of the oldest protected areas in Kenya which were first established as a game reserve in 1906 before it was upgraded to the status of a national park. It was later in 1991 that the park was declared a UNESCO world heritage site so as to protect, preserve and conserve the different unique species at the park.

On the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Amboseli offers amazing safari holidays.
